This Friedrich AC is better build quality than almost all AC's
This Friedrich AC is better build quality than almost all AC’s I looked at in stores. I installed it in a 8″ wall. the inside overhang is not as much as you would normally have but it is fine for my room. Mounting the shell and sliding the chassis in was easy for me alone, but two persons would make it real easy. I removed a 6K unit that worked fine for cooling, but sounded like a leaf blower and vibrated the walls and windows on that side of the house. This Friedrich 6K is very quiet for something that blows air and I don’t hear or feel the compressor running. I don’t usually write early reviews because I’m a stickler for reliability and longevity but since noise was a primary concern I wanted say it meets that criteria. My wife will be able to sleep with it running. We are in Arizona. The air sweep works but I just use it to position the horizontal air flow then turn it off. I wish it had a manual override. If the drive motor fails it would be impossible to position the horizontal air flow without a difficult modification. Window AC’s I’ve had in the past have lasted 10 plus years. I’m looking for the same with this unit but today’s quality worries me. We’ll see.

I purchased the Koldfront 12,000 BTU Heat/Cool Window Air Conditioner. purchased this to primarily provide an energy efficient alternative to my electric baseboard heaters (super expensive to operate). The fact that it would provide a more energy efficient window a/c was icing on the cake. I needed to have a 220V outlet installed; however, it was worth it. This unit not only heats the entire downstairs of my 1500 sf home, however, because heat rises, it provides most heating throughout the home. I only need to supplement the upstairs bedroom heat at night, as needed, and my electric bill was $100 less this month compared to this time last year. This unit is phenomenal and I highly recommend! I am even considering the smaller 8000 BTU combo unit for my upstairs bedrooms to replace the window A/Cs and to provide that supplemental heat.

Nice quality. Used in my bedroom and quite quiet. You know that it’s there, but not disturbing. Mine wasn’t that hard to slip out and mount and had no problems with the foam that others talk about. Quite pleased.
Even through the heat wave this the Koldfront WAC12001W AC air conditioner is still working great. We just just purchased a 2 one for our other room.
